In recent years, the students of the College of Foreign Languages at Zhejiang Normal University have widely contributed to the Go Out policy, participating as volunteers in a series of major political, economic, and diplomatic events, such as the G20 Hangzhou Summit, China-Africa Think Tanks Forum, Global Service Outsourcing Meeting, Sino-Nordic Young Champions Forum, Jinhua Homestay Project, and Yiwu International Commodities Fair.

Among these, the Jinhua Homestay project has attracted domestic and international attention, becoming an influential event often shared and discussed in social media, including the overseas edition of People's Daily, Guangming Online, Zhejiang TV, China Daily, Xinhua NET, Facebook, and Twitter.

In order to provide better international volunteer services, the CFL has founded the MTI Volunteer Services Team. International volunteer services have become a major platform for those CFL students who are willing to enter the social community, put their skills into practice, and grow into social beings.

G20 Volunteering Team

In September 2016, the world’s attention was on the G20 Hangzhou Summit. International leaders and institutions attended the event, gathering around the beauty of West Lake. According to the needs of the Provincial Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FAO), the CFL at ZNU selected 12 students and teachers to assist in the execution of the G20. Additionally, another volunteer team of 23 members was selected to present the G20 from the CFL at ZNU, including undergraduates, graduate students, and two accompanying teachers.

Jinhua Homestay

Beginning with the first session of the Jinhua Homestay project – launched in 2015, various CFL student volunteers have participated in all four sessions of the project – Suoyuan, Siping, Yuyuan, and Zhiyan – sharing meals and accommodations with international participants and helping them to learn about and enjoy the charm of Chinese historical villages.

Sino-Nordic Young Champions Forum

The first Sino-Nordic Young Champions Forum was held in Yiwu on November 2015. On the occasion, Li Yuanchao, Vice President of the PRC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Politicians from Northern Europe, Chinese Government officials, Chinese and international outstanding young entrepreneurs, and scholars attended.

The MTI Volunteer Services Team offered volunteering services to the Yiwu FAO, providing the Chinese and European young entrepreneurs with escort interpreting, which was highly praised by the local institutions.

Global Service Outsourcing Meeting

The Global Service Outsourcing Meeting was also held in November 2015. Co-sponsored by the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, the Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Jinhua People's Government, the event was held in Jinhua. The event's organizational and international services were provided by the MTI Volunteer Services Team of ZNU.

China-Africa Think Tanks Forum

The Fifth Session of the China-Africa Think Tanks Forum was held in April 2016, in Yiwu. In order to develop sino-african relations, over 300 leaders, experts, scholars, governmental officials, and entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries, attended the discussions, symposia, and meetings held during the forum. On the occasion, the MTI Volunteer Services Team traveled to Yiwu to provide participants with escort interpreting and other facilitation services.
