The China-Africa Joint Research and Exchange Program is supervised and supported by the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University (IASZNU). Professor Liu Hongwu, Cheung Kong Scholar and Dean of the IASZNU, is one of the committee members of the program.

Recently, the IASZNU received a specialized notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The notice declared that four projects within the 2017 China-Africa Joint Research and  Exchange Program were approved: two subject research projects, one seminar, and one scholar exchange program in Africa.

Since 2011, the IASZNU has undertaken a total of 27 projects within the China-Africa Joint Research and Exchange Program, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the spirit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the China-Africa Joint Research and Exchange Program is a combined national research program that was jointly launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance in 2011.

The program aims to support and encourage more scholars to join in studying China-Africa relations and African development, to strengthen mutual understanding, to enhance China-Africa academic exchanges, and to jointly seek advice and suggestions for the development of China-Africa relations. This, in turn, will make great contributions to consolidating the friendly relationships between China and Africa, deepen cooperation, and promote Africas peace and development.

So far, over 100 China-Africa joint academic projects have been carried out, including several subject research projects, international conferences, scholar exchanges, and more.
