ZNU Teacher Invited to 2017 CESHK Meeting

    From March 24 to 25, the 2017 Annual Meeting of Comparative Education Society of Hong Kong (CESHK) was held at the Tseung Kwan O Campus of Education at the University of Hong Kong. In attendance were more than 100 scholars from Columbia University, Nagoya University, Northeastern University, Waseda University, Singapore National Institute of Education, National University of Jakarta , Hong Kong University, the Education University of Hong Kong, National Taiwan Normal University, Tamkang University, University of Macau, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhongshan University, Beijing Normal University, Xiamen University, and Zhejiang Normal University. Mark Bray, professor of comparative education from UNESCO, and Bob Adamson, professor of vocational technology and life-long education at UNESCO, were invited to attend the meeting.

    The meeting had four topic discussions and six panels. In the opening ceremony, Yaehee Choi, chairman of CESHK, pointed out that this meeting would be an excellent opportunity for exchanging academic reviews and deepening the participants’ understanding of comparative education.

    Zhu Jian from the Tianjiabing Institution of Education Science at ZNU made a report on What Sorts of Women Can Lead World-Class Universities? A Comparative Analysis of the USA, the UK, and Canada in the panel “Higher Education in Asia: Globalization and Localization.” This report was co-written by Zhu and Hou Xiaoyu, one of his postgraduate students. It was also part of the National Education Science Project, as Zhu was one of the leaders of the project. (Translated by Li Ziyi, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
