|Cultural Exchanges in Jimingshan Community|
At the end of September, the Jimingshan Community of Jiangdong Subdistrict in Yiwu held lectures for international businessmen. More than thirty expats from Iran, Jordan, France, Colombia, and other countries and regions participated in the event.
The Yiwu Foreign Affairs Office and the Municipal Library selected over 70 books in foreign languages and donated them to the Jimingshan Community for international businessmen. Professor Guo Jianling of the International Culture and Education College at Zhejiang Normal University has rich experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. She shared some Chinese learning strategies with international businessmen and encouraged them to practice more and become a bridge of cultural exchanges.
In recent years, the Jimingshan Community, known locally as “the UN community,” has been developed as a pilot project by the Yiwu FAO to strengthen cultural exchanges between China and other countries. Since 2018, the FAO has held lectures in the community on international trade, legal services, and health and medicine, which have helped foreigners better understand Yiwu and function better in daily life. So far, more than 70,000 foreigners in Jimingshan Community have been provided with Chinese language and cultural training. (By Gong Yan, translated by Wei Han, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
