At 8 p.m. on October 8, the 2020 Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award (SGJA) ceremony was held online. James Hayter, president of the International Federation of Landscape Architects, announced that Chinese landscape architect Yu Kongjian is a recipient of the 2020 awards.

A native of Jinhua, Yu Kongjian is the designer of the Yanweizhou Park. Being born and raised in Zhejiang, he drew inspiration for his work from his childhood, being submerged in farming culture and prolonged tradition in water and waste management. He has played a crucial role in the establishment of the College of Architecture and Landscape at Peking University, of which he is also founder and chief designer. In 2012, he became fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and in 2016, he became honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2017, he received a Doctor Honoris Causa in Landscape and Environment from the Sapienza University of Rome, and in 2019, he received an Honorary Doctorate from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

The award jury commented: “Dr. Yu is undoubtedly one of the most influential landscape architects in the world. His high-profile design works and the popularity of his lectures and didactic activities have a strong impact on professionals and students as well as the general public. He has also offered a new way to look at the field [of landscape architecture].”

Yu Kongjian’s representative works include: the Shanghai Houtan Park, Harbin Qunli Urban Wetland Park, Qinhuangdao Red Ribbon Park, Zhongshan Shipyard Park, the Rice Campus at Shenyang Jianzhu University, Tianjin Qiaoyuan Park, Qian’an Sanlihe Greenway Park, Jinhua Yanweizhou Park, and Quzhou Luming Park.

The Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award is also known as the Nobel Prize in Landscape Architecture. Its importance is equivalent to the Pritzker Prize in the field of architecture. The award aims to recognize the achievements and contributions of contemporary landscape architects, putting the emphasis on the unique and lasting impact on society their works have, including contributions to environmental well-being and landscape development. The list of nominations is compiled by a special committee and is reviewed by a jury composed of members from the five areas of competence of the IFLA.

The award is also a commemoration in honor of the outstanding contribution of Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe, Honorary President of IFLA. 金华人俞孔坚荣获景观设计师最高荣誉

10月8日20：00，2020年杰弗里·杰里科爵士奖（Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award，简称SGJA）颁奖典礼在线上正式举办，IFLA主席詹姆斯·海特宣布中国景观设计师俞孔坚成为2020年的获奖者。

　　俞孔坚是我们金华人，燕尾洲公园就是俞先生的设计作品。作为浙江人，他从童年的农耕经验和古老的水和废物管理的智慧中汲取灵感，设计和测试了一系列基于自然的解决方案。

　　他在北京大学建筑与景观设计学院的创立中发挥了重要作用，同时也是建筑与景观设计学院的创建者和首席设计师。他于2012年当选为美国景观建筑师学会院士，并于2016年当选为美国艺术与科学学院国际荣誉院士。2017年获得罗马萨皮恩扎大学景观与环境荣誉博士学位，并于2019年获得挪威生命科学大学荣誉博士学位。

　　评审团指出：“俞孔坚先生无疑是世界上最具影响力的景观设计师之一。他高调的设计作品以及他的演讲和教育活动的知名度对专业人士和学生以及更广泛的公众产生了巨大的影响——有机会改变人们对这一职业的看法“。

　　杰弗里·杰里科爵士奖（Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award）被称为“景观学与风景园林界的诺贝尔奖”，它的重要性相当于普利兹克奖在建筑界的地位，是国际景观学与风景园林界授予景观设计师的最高荣誉。

　　旨在表彰一位在世的景观设计师迄今为止的成就和贡献，及其对社会、环境福祉，和对景观设计专业的发展所产生的独特而持久的影响。获奖候选人名单由提名委员会进行提名，并由来自IFLA五个大区的成员组成评审委员会进行评审，最终确定获奖人选。

　　该奖项同时也是为了纪念IFLA荣誉会长杰弗里·杰里科爵士（Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe）的杰出贡献。来自英国的杰里科爵士（1900-1996）被认为是英国景观设计学发展史上最具影响力的人物之一，是“英国景观学会的生命和灵魂”。
