|Yiwu Formulates Standards for Robes|
On the afternoon of November 25, Yiwu’s first Belt and Road group standard for small commodities was released in both Chinese and English, which specifically standardizes the production of abaya robes (“robes”) that are exported to other countries. This group standard is formulatedto meet the needs of buyers from countries and regions along the Belt and Road, and foreign investors participated in the formulation process for the first time.
Yiwu has maintained close trade contacts with the countries and regions along the Belt and Road in recent years. However, parties are often locked in disputes because of unclear agreements on the quality of robes. In order to ensure the stable quality of export products, reduce trade friction, and standardize market order, the Chamber of Commerce of Yiwu Commodity Cityproposed the idea of formulating agroup standard for robes last year, and the Yiwu Institute of Standardization undertook the project. Various technical indicators such as quality, specification, and size are discussed in detail in the standard to meet practical needs.
To cater to market demand, a number of standards in both Chinese and English for pet products, small household appliances, hosiery, and other categories are also currently under development in Yiwu. (Translated by Wei Han, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
