|Jinhua’s Comprehensive Transportation Hub|
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, in order to build a national comprehensive transportation hub, Jinhua has accelerated the construction of high-speed railways, expressways, intercity railways, airports, and shipping facilities. Jinhua has established a comprehensive, convenient, and efficient transportation infrastructure network with a serviceable layout, expert functions, and smooth connections.
According to statistics, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Jinhua’s investment in the construction of comprehensive transportation infrastructure reached 111.5 billion RMB, 1.5 times more than during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. About 51.082 bn RMB of the total investment was for expressways, 1.981 bn RMB for waterways, 1.318 bn RMB for airports, 43.363 bn RMB for railways, and 13.897 bn RMB for transport stations.
In terms of railways, Jinhua has launched major construction projects such as the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway (Jinhua Section), Phase I of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway (Jinhua Section), the expansion of Yiwu Station, and the Lanxi junction of the Jinhua-Jiande Railway. Both the number of Jinhua’s railway projects under construction and Jinhua’s railway mileage ranked among the top in Zhejiang. By the end of 2019, Jinhua had three regular railways and two high-speed railways, with a total mileage of 377 km. In 2019, Jinhua’s railways transported 24.32 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of about 8%. The number of passengers passing through Yiwu Station reached 13.12 million, ranking first among county-level cities in China.
With regard to expressways, Jinhua has advanced the preliminary work of the Ningbo-Jinhua-Quzhou-Shangrao Expressway and the construction of the Dongyang Section of the Yiwu-Dongyang Expressway. By the end of 2019, Jinhua’s total trafficway mileage reached 13,076 km, ranking fourth in Zhejiang, and the expressway mileage was 376 km. In 2019, Jinhua transported 105.63 million passengers on trafficways, ranking second in the province.
Concerning shipping, the upstream part of the Qiantang river system opened to traffic on January 2, 2019, and the opening ceremony of Longyou Port Area of Quzhou Port was held in Longyou on the same day, marking a new chapter for Jinhua’s shipping. The completion of the ship lock on the Fuchun River has upgraded the waterways of Lanjiang and Qujiang, and the Yaojia ship lock also opened to traffic.
As to airports, Jinhua has completed the upgrading and reconstruction project for the airfield of Yiwu Airport. Dongyang Hengdian Airport was completed and put into operation. Yiwu Airport has opened 24 routes, including regular international (regional) flights from Yiwu to Hong Kong, Vietnam, and other regions and countries. In 2019, the passenger throughput reached 2.029 million, an increase of 24.1% year over year. The preliminary work of Wuyi Airport and other projects are in process.
With respect to public transport, by the end of 2019, Jinhua had 434 bus routes, and 6 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus routes had been opened in the urban area. Jinhua has formed a multi-level and multi-modal public transport system with BRT buses as the core, conventional buses as the main body, and taxis and public bicycles as supplements.
