李渔（1611－1680），号笠翁，浙江兰溪人，明末清初文学家、戏剧家、戏剧理论家、美学家。李渔提出了较为完善的戏剧理论体系，被后世誉为“中国戏剧理论始祖”、“世界喜剧大师”、“东方莎士比亚”，被列入世界文化名人之一。
Li Yu (1611 - 1680), literary name Li Weng, was born in Lanxi, Zhejiang province. He was a writer, dramatist, drama theorist and aesthetician in the late Ming (1368-1644) and early Qing dynasties (1644-1911).
Li Yu proposed a relatively perfect theoretical system of drama and is reputed as "the originator of Chinese drama theory", "the master of world comedy" and "the Oriental Shakespeare". He is also on the list of world cultural celebrities.

李渔是中国最早具有版权意识的出版家，出于保护自己的版权，便于与盗版者交涉，在康熙元年（1662）左右李渔离开了杭州，迁往金陵（今南京）。
Li Yu was the earliest copyright-conscious publisher in ancient China. To protect his copyright, he moved from Hangzhou to Jinling (now Nanjing) around 1662 to negociate with the pirates.
李渔居金陵期间，结交了很多文友。众多的朋友，使李渔能自由往来于朝野文人之间，也使他增加了不少知识，懂得了许多人情世故，更为他的创作提供了丰富、生动的文学素材。
During his stay in Jinling, Li Yu made many literary friends. Numerous friends from all walks of life helped enrich his knowledge and worldly wisdom, which also provided rich and vivid materials for his creation.
为丰富知识，陶冶性情，向大自然汲取营养，李渔与古代许多文人一样，不仅读万卷书，而且行万里路。他每到一地，都要游览山水胜地。

Li Yu's notable works include operas like Naihe Tian and Happy Reunion, the novels Silent Operas and Twelve Towers, poems like The Day Before Qingming, theoretical work Sketches of Idle Pleasure, and enlightened reading materials like Li Weng's Rhyme and Complete Works of Li Yu.
李渔路 Li Yu Road
李渔路是浙江省金华市主城区的一条城市主要道路。分为李渔路、李渔东路。以李渔的名字命名。另外，在金华市兰溪市，另有一条李渔路。
There are two roads named after the playwriter in Jinhua. One is a main road in the suburban areas in Jinhua, which is divided into Li Yu Road and Li Yu East Road. The other is in the Lanxi city.
李渔戏剧小镇 Li Yu Opera Town
李渔戏剧小镇是李渔文化朝圣地、乡村旅游胜地，景点包括鹤归楼、且停亭、李渔坝、笠翁对韵小道、闲情偶寄园、十卺楼、笠翁戏苑等，李渔元素随处可见。
Li Yu Opera Town is a cultural pilgrimage site and a rural tourist destination. The scenic spots in the town include a theater, pavilions and gardens that were inspired by Li Yu.
