According to the Mall Group, on January 5, the construction of “Yiwu Commodities City” has started in Dubai, and the City is scheduled to open for business when the 2021 Dubai World Expo opens. Dubai’s Yiwu Commodities City will soon become the largest professional wholesale center of small commodities in the Middle East, providing inter-connected development of online and offline selling.

Dubai is known as the “gateway to the Middle East” and is the region’s largest trade distribution center for commodities made in Yiwu. More than half of Yiwu’s exports to the Middle East and Africa pass through Dubai. Furthermore, Dubai plays an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative. Yiwu, as the world’s largest small commodities city, is focusing on African and Middle Eastern markets to develop its exports while the European and American markets are hit hard by COVID-19.

In 2020, Yiwu entered the era of “Pilot Free Trade Zone.” Taking this significant opportunity, Mall Group and Dubai Ports World, two giant companies, have been working hand in hand to jointly develop and construct the “Yiwu Commodities City” in Dubai. 迪拜义乌中国小商品城 计划与世博会同期开业

昨日，从商城集团获悉，迪拜义乌中国小商品城工程已开工建设，计划与2021年迪拜世博会同期开业。开业后，迪拜义乌中国小商品城将成为中东地区最大的小商品专业批发中心，并实现线上、线下联动发展。

据介绍，迪拜号称“中东门户”，是“义乌制造”在中东地区最大的贸易集散地，而义乌出口中东、非洲等地的商品，很大一部分在迪拜中转。同时，迪拜在“一带一路”中扮演着重要角色。

义乌拥有全球最大的小商品市场。在欧美市场受到新冠肺炎疫情重创的背景下，非洲及中东市场成为义乌开拓出口的重要方向。

2020年，义乌进入“自贸试验区时代”，面对这一重大机遇，商城集团与迪拜环球港务集团强强联手，共同开发建设迪拜义乌中国小商品城。(全媒体记者 吴峰宇)
