From September 25-29, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) invited over 60 senior executives from multinational companies, mainstream media journalists, and youth representatives from China and 21 other countries to visit Ningxia. During the trip, Lin Songtian, president of the CPAFFC, together with the delegation, visited a vineyard at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain and witnessed the “purple miracle” of Ningxia’s wine industry. In an interview, Lin said that many local deserts became fertile fields after mixing with the water of the Yellow River. He invited some young people from several developing countries here to see how China made impossible things possible. “Although I have tasted many kinds of wine, Ningxia’s wine still leaves a deep impression on me. I see its great potential to be popular around the world,” said Gert Johannes Grobler, former ambassador of South Africa to Madagascar and senior researcher of the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University “People here have turned deserts into green land. They planted one of the best wine grapes and are making one of the best wines in the world. It is really an extraordinary achievement,” said Hamad Abdul Zahir, a Pakistani doctor in China.
