Sea-Rail Combined Transport Trains in Yongkang

At Yongkang East Railway Station, a train carrying 45 containers loaded with a variety of hardware products recently departed for Ningbo Beilun Port, where the goods were then cleared by Customs and loaded onto ships for export. Since then, Yongkang’s sea-rail combined transport train has entered normal operation, and Yongkang’s enterprise export trade has created a convenient channel to go overseas. The sea-rail combined transport project has not only alleviated the problem of “lack of containers” for foreign trade companies, but also greatly reduced their logistics costs.

In recent years, Yongkang’s foreign trade export transactions have continued to increase. In the first five months of this year, foreign trade exports reached more than 17 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 53%. Companies’ foreign trade orders have risen sharply, but the dilemma of “lack of containers” arose among exports. In order to solve this problem, Yongkang Transportation Investment Group began to plan sea-rail combined transportation projects, organized personnel to visit Yiwu and other places for inspection and study, and actively negotiated with Ningbo-Zhoushan Port International Logistics Co., Ltd. and Jinwen Railway Company.

In June of this year, Yongkang and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port signed a sea-rail combined transport development cooperation framework. On the 25th of the same month, Yongkang’s first sea-rail combined transport train opened. At present, Yongkang sea-rail combined trains operate twice per week, and subsequent trains will increase as needed. An estimated 25,000 standard containers will be sent over the course of the year.
