Rice Expert Visits Jinhua

As newly harvested rice is hitting the market, a famous expert who specializes in rice comes to Jinhua. He is Hu Peisong, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of the China National Rice Research Institute, and an expert on the genetic improvement of rice quality. At the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hu Peisong chatted with many agricultural experts and farmers in Jinhua on specialized topics such as breed selection and quality analysis.

Hu said that the quality of rice has improved rapidly in recent years in terms of appearance, taste, processing, and nutrition, which are indicators for judging high-quality rice. Generally speaking, high-quality rice is non-chalky white, transparent, and looks shiny and slender. In terms of nutrition, chemical indicators such as starch content and protein content should be considered.

The Municipal Association for Science and Technology awarded Hu Peisong a letter of appointment for the Jinhua International Academician Innovation Center of the Yangtze River Delta G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor and Jinhua Academician Home, and invited him to visit Jinhua frequently in the future.
