Transfer Calls from International Volunteer

“Hello, I am Ahmad Raza, an international volunteer from Jimingshan Community, Yiwu. Due to the needs of pandemic prevention and control, may I ask you some necessary questions...” On December 21, Ahmad Raza, a businessman from Pakistan, made “transfer calls” in English to Yiwu’s foreign businessmen who had recently visited Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, and other cities.

Ahmad Raza has conducted business in Yiwu for more than 10 years and married a Chinese woman, and his friends call him AR. Since December, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Shaoxing have seen confirmed cases of COVID-19. When related health inspection data has been distributed to the community, the community workers need to make a large number of these “transfer calls” every day. For the Jimingshan community, known as the United Nations community, smoothly verifying the information of relevant international residents is no small challenge. In order to solve this problem, Jimingshan Community opened the “Overseas Personnel Transfer Call” and hired AR, who is proficient in Chinese, English, and Arabic, as the line operator.

There is a natural affinity between AR and other international residents. To date, AR has helped the community to complete the work by receiving relevant information of the residents through making more than 60 transfer calls.
