At 24:00 on March 8, the 2021 Spring Festival Travel Rush (Chunyun) officially ended. During the 40 days of intense traveling, Jinhua processed a total of 9.49 million passengers, a decrease of 18.19% in the same period in 2019 and a 452.14% increase from the same period in 2020. Among them, 1.40 million passengers traveled via railway, down 38.19% from the same period in 2019, and an increase of 15% compared with 2020; a total of 121,700 passengers flew, a decrease of 36.48% from the same period in 2019 and an increase of 23.18% from the same period in 2020; and highways saw a total of 7.97 million passengers, a decrease of 12.86% year over year in 2019 and an increase of 225.49% year over year in 2020.
Affected by the pandemic situation and the national call to stay local to celebrate Chinese New Year, the scale of population flow in this year’s travel rush was significantly lower than in previous years (2020 excluded), whether people traveled by railway, highway, plane, or waterway. To meet the requirements of normalized pandemic prevention and control, Jinhua’s transportation companies continue to optimize ticket sales plans, promote online ticket sales, and provide customized services such as chartered vehicles for migrant workers and college students to help them return to work and school.
