On March 24, a demonstration meeting for how to process work permits and residence permits for foreigners in Zhejiang was held in Jinhua. The purpose was to promote the reform of this process. Leaders, including Dong Xubin and Zhang Xinyu, attended the meeting. As the first city in Zhejiang that is able to process the application of work permits and residence permits for foreigners in China at the same time, Jinhua is taking the lead among other cities in the province regarding the handling of work permits and residence permits.
As of July 2020, all nine counties and districts in Jinhua have realized the integration of work permits and residence permits for foreign experts, benefiting nearly 6,000 foreign experts working in Jinhua, accounting for nearly a quarter of those working in Zhejiang. The efficiency of the application process has greatly improved: before, the applicants needed to come to the office and submit materials four times, now one time is enough; and the average processing time has been reduced from 25 working days to 5 working days.
