Two Yiwu Hospitals Stand out in Performance Appraisal

On the afternoon of March 30, the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China issued the performance appraisal results of the national tertiary public hospitals in 2019. The Fourth Hospital of Zhejiang University in Yiwu and the Yiwu Central Hospital stood outamong tertiary public hospitals nationwide.

Among the 2413 tertiary public hospitals, the Fourth Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was rated in class A+, jumping 71 slots to 114th place in just one year. It now ranks in the top 10% ofhospitals. Yiwu Central Hospital was rated class A, ranking 128th (belonging to the top 10%-20% ofhospitals), jumping195 slots compared to its ranking in the first national assessment in 2018, which shows its rapid development.

The performance appraisal of public hospitals is a significant test of the Party Central Committee and the State Council for all tertiary public medical institutions. Furthermore, it is an important means to further deepen the reform of the medical and healthcare system. With a scientific and comprehensive assessment system, the performance appraisal results were based on the monitoring and analysis of medical quality, operational efficiency, sustainable development, and public satisfaction with the tertiary public hospitals.
