At 10 p.m. on June 8, the train X9216 “Chunli,” loaded with 100 TEUs of tea and tea-related products from Shengzhou, Zhejiang, headed to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from Yiwu West Railway Station. This is the first train specially for tea from the Yangtze River Delta.

Zhejiang is one of the largest tea-producing provinces in China. Shengzhou boasts green tea, of which bubble tea accounts for about 60% of China’s exports. It is the main production area of bubble tea and hosts the largest bubble tea processing and export distribution center nationwide. The X9216 tea train is a train customized for the local company Zhejiang Chunli Tea Co., Ltd. in Shengzhou. The total cargo weighs 94 tons and is valued at about 1.68 million USD. It departed from the Khorgos port and will arrive in Tashkent in 10 days.

Next, the railway department will work with local governments, the China-Europe Railway Express (CRE) Platform Company, the Customs department, and other companies to give full play to the advantages of the linkage mechanism between them, optimize the transportation organization of the CRE, improve the quality and efficiency of the railway, and benefit the companies and people in the countries along the Belt and Road. The railway department strives to contribute toward promoting the development of a new development pattern for services and Belt and Road construction.
