At 10 a.m. on August 13, Wenzhou Customs inspected and let depart the first Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe CRE Train loaded with footwear made in Wenzhou. Launched from the Wenzhou inland port, the cargo train went through Jinhua, will cross the border at Manzhouli, and reach its final destination in Russia in about 15-18 days.
This special cargo train contains a wide range of shoes produced in Wenzhou with a total weight of about 615 tons and a value of about 4.1 million USD. Launched from Jinhua, the cargo train loaded with shoes has set foot for the first time on the New Silk Road.
For many years, the export channel for Wenzhou-based footwear companies has primarily been one-way sea transport. However, due to the pandemic’s impact, both sea and air transport channels are unstable, container slots are very hard to find, and export costs have increased exponentially, resulting in limitations and complications for the companies based in Wenzhou.
As a new transcontinental, long-distance, green and low-carbon emission transportation channel, YXE CRE trains have the advantages of short transportation time, safe and reliable logistics, and low freight rates. According to statistics, from January to July 2021, the YXE CRE train departed from Wenzhou are 54, a year-on-year increase of nearly three times.
