Yiwu, the world-famous commodities city; Ningbo, a city with a literary reputation and as well as a reputation as the gateway to the world; and Zhoushan, hailed as the “Fish Warehouse of the East China Sea,” are connected by the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan (YNZ) Corridor. This corridor mainly includes Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Yiwu Land Port, Ningbo-Jinhua Expressway, and Jinhua-Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, which connect the inland areas and seaports.
Nowadays, countless container trucks and rail-to-ship trains shuttle back and forth between Yiwu and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port every day through the YNZ Corridor. In 2020, one out of every seven heavy containers in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port came from Yiwu. In the first half of this year, the Yiwu-Ningbo rail-to-ship trains shipped 27,430 TEUs of heavy containers, a year-over-year increase of 115.3%. The container sealing volume of Yiwu Port increased by 30% year on year. The proportion of bills of lading of rail-to-ship transport increased from 17% last year to 35% in the first half of this year. The volume of empty containers entering the yard and the volume of returned containers also doubled compared to last year. (By Wu Fengyu, translated by Wei Han, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
