|E-Commerce Livestreaming Booming in Yiwu|
According to the Market Development Committee of Yiwu, from January to June this year, Yiwu has organized 108,700 livestreams. These brought in retail sales of 14.947 billion RMB, an increase of 52% year-on-year.
On July 24, Ren Xiaoling, a merchant from the third district of Yiwu International Trade City, opened accounts on TikTok and Chinagoods, and began to sell goods from her store via livestreaming. She first interacted with viewers as a warm-up, then displayed her products, which are authorized by Disney.
“What’s the price?” “Free shipping?” messages from the viewers were popping up on Ren’s screen. She answered their questions while guiding them how to purchase. From time to time, other merchants came to her store to watch and learn.
Nowadays, more and more Yiwu merchants have begun to realize the huge business opportunities brought by this new industry and have started to participate in livestreaming. At present, Yiwu has built six livestreaming bases with over 3,000 internet celebrities, and more than 50,000 employees in the industry chain, such as product supply, livestreaming training, and content production.
With the rapid development of digital technology, the livestreaming industry is booming. The internet celebrity phenomenon and livestreaming are opening up new sales channels for the market.
According to a director from the E-Commerce Department of the Market Development Committee of Yiwu, in order to adapt to the new trend of e-commerce and support the development of livestreaming, Yiwu has issued several policies, including “Advice on Accelerating the Development of Livestreaming (Trial),” to clarify the strategies and supportive policies of livestreaming.
To date, Yiwu has brought in and cultivated more than 40 multi-channel network companies, established 15 livestreaming bases, set up the first livestreaming college in China, and issued the first national-level training textbooks for livestreaming.
