On September 7, according to the municipal Market Supervision Bureau, the State Intellectual Property Office issued a notice on determining the list of the Demonstration Zones for National Geographical Indication Product Protection in 2021, and the demonstration zone for Jinhua ham—National Geographical Indication Product declared by Jinhua—gained approval.

The Demonstration Zone for National Geographical Indication Product Protection is an area that focuses on the protection of geographical indication products and has a certain weight with standardized management, and it has products that can play a significant role in related industries in the surrounding area. In 2021, China launched the first batch of declarations, and only 50 companies nationwide have been approved. The demonstration zone for Jinhua ham has become one of the two demonstration areas in Zhejiang Province.

In 2020, Jinhua produced 3 million units of Jinhua ham, with an output value of 1.6 billion RMB. After the establishment of the demonstration zone, the output value of Jinhua ham will increase by more than 15% annually, the comprehensive output value will strive to total more than 2.4 billion RMB.
