|Pujiang Sansi Goes Global with Chinese Smart Manufacturing|
At the beginning of September, still under a scorching sun, the Pujiang factory of Sansi Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. was in full swing.
“In order to complete and start production as soon as possible, today more than 140 employees braved the scorching sun to work on site. The project consists of two areas, A and B. Area B started construction first, and buildings 3 and 4 are already completed and being used as production workshops. The foundations of Building 1 are now under construction,” explained Min Long, the person in charge of the construction site from the Shanghai headquarters.
The project was initially signed on the occasion of the second Jinhua Development Conference in 2019 between Shanghai Sansi Group and Pujiang County. Located in the Development Zone of Pujiang, the project covers an area of over 160,000 square meters and records a total investment of 1 bn RMB.
Pujiang Sansi is affiliated with the Shanghai-based Sansi Group; founded in 1993, the group now has three major R&D and production bases in Shanghai, Jiashan, and Pujiang, totaling an area of more than 230,000 square meters. The enterprise specializes in the development and large-scale production of high-tech LED products and it is at forefront of LED lighting and system integration solutions.
In 1993, Chen Bishou, a native of Pujiang, started his business in Shanghai. In 2008, he decided to return to his hometown to expand his business and establish Pujiang Sansi Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., which has now played the role of a major taxpayer in Pujiang County for many years.
Cheng Aiqun, vice general manager of Pujiang Sansi, said that the company has been continuously creating industrial value, relying on the power of science and technology. At present, Sansi Group consists of 14 scientific research institutions and has more than 480 scientific researchers on staff. Moving along the road of scientific and technological innovation, Pujiang Sansi has earned many honors at the national level for high-tech enterprises, innovative enterprises, as well as provincial-level recognitions for manufacturing certification and green and low-carbon demonstration enterprises.
“This project started construction in July 2020 after issuance of the construction permit in April 2020. Buildings 3 and 4 have been built and are designated to be smart street lightning production workshops. Buildings 5 and 6 will be used as office buildings and dormitories,” Min Long said. He added that although the abundant rains in the first half of the year caused frequent interruption of the construction, 90% of the construction progress of the first phase of the workshop has been completed, and about 60% of construction of the dormitory has been completed. The new plant will be put into operation before Spring Festival in 2022. The industrial plan is to continue to increase the scale of production: it is estimated that by 2024, the company’s annual sales will exceed 3 bn RMB, placing it among the large-scale modern LED production bases in China.
