Jinhua Heritage: Wang Wenbiao’s Plan for Themed Park
王文彪

发布时间: 2022-01-07

In 2015, Wang Wenbiao was hanging around on a beach in Laos when he found a big boat about 50 meters long, mostly made of wood. All of a sudden, he felt the need to take it back to his village.

Since the beginning of 2018, Wang has invested more than a year dismantling and transporting the 48-meter-long wooden boat and two other small wooden boats from Laos and Vietnam. His plan is to realize a themed royal residence among the hills; although it has not opened to the public yet, visitors have already made the small village a legendary place harboring myths of The Classic of Mountains and Seas and ancient Greece. All of this has made Wang Wenbiao an internet celebrity, too.

His hometown, the village of Xiaowang Chuantou, is somewhat related to the idea of vessels since it has the character chuán 船 for boat and the clear waters of the Wuyi River flow right next to the village across a road. Thus, Wang wanted to transform his three concrete houses into a very different building based on the theme of boats and casually integrating offices, displays, and entertainment.

No sooner said than done, Wang knew that those were abandoned relics, so he promptly sorted out the property rights procedures and carried on to dismantle the boats. Then he kept the wooden materials, the engines, and other supplies which belonged to the vessels and had them transported from Laos to Vietnam, from Vietnam to Guangxi, and finally back to his village. The entire process took a full year. Upon completion of the design, he gave shape to a small park, dazzling and combining both foreign features and Chinese style in his typical village, which has already won people’s admiration.
