From November 5 to 6, the Second Forum on Anthropology and Region and Country-Specific studies was held at the International Exchange Center of Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU). The theme of this year’s forum was “A World of Experience, Disciplinary Methods and the Construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.”

Zhong Yijun, vice president of ZJNU, delivered a speech, and Wang Heng, secretary of the general party branch and vice president of the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University (IASZNU), presided over the ceremony.

Zhong welcomed the guests and scholars who attended the symposium. He believes the symposium, from the specific to the whole, from academia to discipline, was very inspiring for the construction of the two disciplines of anthropology. Over the past 15 years, the Institute of African Studies at ZNU has been committed to the theoretical exploration and practical innovation in African specific studies (RCSS), adhered to the problem and practice, and strove to open up the channel between academic research and think tank services. They have achieved remarkable results and gained positive value for all parties. At present, RCSS have ushered in a new stage of development, and experts and scholars represented by Professor Liu Hongwu have profoundly expounded on numerous issues including concept, connotation, construction, and the promotion of region and country-specific studies. It supplies new directions and concepts, and paves the way for promoting the construction of RCSS. (By Bi Yan, translated by Zhang Jiajia, edited by Daniel Haws)
