The series of digital art collections of "Xi Gu Chao Xin," jointly created by the CICG Center for Asia and Pacific, the China Theatre Association, and Zhejiang Guji Culture Technology Co., Ltd., has been playing on Jintan, a platform of digital collections affiliated with the Ant Financial Services Group. The series aims to help give the traditional art of Chinese opera innovative promotion and inheritance in a virtual space. People can enjoy areas of Wu opera like The Legend of the White Snake and Lady General Mu Guiying in a spacecraft.

The metaverse is a concept of a highly immersive virtual world created by advanced technology and can be connected with real world. Applying the metaverse to traditional Chinese opera is a new exploration of modern opera cultures, which can create virtual and digital scenes, and through these diverse scenes build another world where the audience can interact with each other.

The digital art collection features "Trend + Traditional Chinese Opera," and has six areas of traditional Chinese opera like The Drunken Beauty (Peking Opera), The Empty City (Peking Opera), Lady General Hua Mulan (Henan Opera), A Petty Official (Henan Opera), The Legend of the White Snake (Wu Opera), and Lady General Mu Guiying (Wu Opera), which are rendered by celebrated performers. Unique and captivating singing and opera performances are perfectly integrated with the futuristic metaverse, aiming to render the art of traditional Chinese opera in the new form of the metaverse to a global audience and to attract the attention of youth around the world.

Two episodes of Wu opera were performed by Yang Xiayun and Lou Sheng, winners of the China Theater Plum Blossom Awards, and Chen Lili, who has won a Magnolia Award for Theater and Performing Arts. "This is a good attempt to perform traditional Chinese opera in a new way by integrating digital art collections and the metaverse," said a staff member of the Zhejiang Wu Opera Troupe at Zhejiang Wu Opera Art Research Institute. People can appreciate the tragic love story in the Legend of the White Snake and the legend of a brave hero in the Lady General Mu Guiying in the virtual spaceship scene. The cross-border integration of different artistic forms and traditional Chinese opera aims to use innovative ways to shorten the distance between the youth and traditional Chinese opera, and hopes that the beauty of Chinese opera will reach a global audience in the form of these renditions.

More series of digital art collection and more arias of traditional Chinese opera will be presented by "Xi Gu Chao Xin," in order to showcase the magic of the metaverse in the performing arts.
