“When the power generation efficiency declines to 85% of the output in the initial level after the last cleaning, the photovoltaic panels need to be fully cleaned again to ensure the optimization of the power generation capacity.” On the morning of June 20, the inspectors of Lanxi State Grid Power Supply Co., Ltd. went to Jujiang Power Supply Technology Co. to inspect the 2.7 MW photovoltaic (PV) power station installed on the roof of the company building. That panels improve the sustainable development of the company. This is the smart electricity service offered by Lanxi State Grid Power Supply Co.
Jujiang Power is a high-tech company that specializes in R&D, manufacturing, and sales of batteries for automobiles. It has 13 world-class battery production lines and a lead-acid battery laboratory. Its technological growth and state-of-the-art production equipment not only injects new impetus into local economic development but also requires a higher standard of regional power supply capacity. “The manufacturing process of lead-acid batteries involves hazardous chemicals, and it is not suitable to be carried out at night, so we can only start production during the peak hours of electricity during the day,” said Wang Dong, the director of the company.
After learning about this situation, the municipal power supply company immediately assigned inspectors to offer smart electrical service and conduct a detailed analysis of the energy consumption of the Jujiang Power Company. Meanwhile, the Zhejiang Jie’an Engineering Co. is responsible for the construction project of the rooftop PV power station throughout the entire process.
Ni Haihui, a staff member of Jie’an Engineering, said, “The roof of the production workshop is flat. What’s more, Jujiang Power is in the upper plain of the Lanjiang River, which has sufficient annual sunshine hours. According to the production and electricity consumption of the company, this location is suitable for the installation of high-voltage photovoltaic power stations.” The project of the 10 kV PV power station was started in April and connected to the grid in June. It has been running for half a month so far. The High Voltage Photovoltaic Power Station of Jujiang Power is expected to generate 3.75 million kWh of electricity every year, which is equivalent to an average annual reduction of 3,000 tons of carbon emissions and 1,128 tons of standard coal.
The benefits brought by smart electricity service are vast. The Lanxi State Grid Power Supply Co. provided Jujiang Power with detailed suggestions for energy saving by carefully analyzing the electricity load curve after PV installation. The curve shows that the company’s electricity load is very high during the peak hours of electricity consumption in the day. Due to the peak-to-valley difference in electricity prices, Jujiang Power’s electricity expenses always remain high. After the PV power station was put into operation, the inspectors suggested that the company should use PV electricity for production during the day, and transfer part of the production capacity to the valley of electricity consumption, thereby saving electricity costs. At the same time, the inspectors also proposed to split the steps of battery production. Jujiang Power can carry out low-energy-consumption operations such as raw material preparation and component assembly during the day and perform tasks with higher energy consumption at night. This action reduces not only production costs but also the burden on the grid.
According to statistics, the Lanxi State Grid Power Supply Co. has signed energy-saving optimization agreements with more than 30 industry-leading companies in Lanxi since it started the smart electricity service. It has promoted the PV power stations with a total capacity of 41.2 MW, which can reduce carbon emissions by 45,800 tons every year. Through tailor-made energy-saving solutions, it has saved more than 40 million RMB in electricity bills for various companies and achieved a win-win situation for companies and the power grid, while also providing environmental protection with low carbon emissions.
