On July 20, after the due customs inspections, the CRE train X8020/19 was loaded with 100 TEUs and departed from the Jinhua East China International Intermodal Port. Starting on a trip of 11000 km, the train was the first international cargo headed to Venlo, Netherlands from Zhejiang. In addition, this was also the 400th CRE Yiwu-Europe-Xinjiang (YXE) train launched by the Jindong platform this year.

2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Netherlands. As China’s first largest investment destination and second largest source of investment in the EU, the Netherlands is an important partner in promoting high-quality development and realizing the Belt and Road Initiative.

In 2021, the total trade volume between China and the Netherlands exceeded the USD 100 billion mark for the first time, reaching USD 116.45 bn and increasing by 26.9% year-on-year. This first train was loaded with all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, synthetic fiber blankets, and other goods made in Wuyi, with a value of more than USD 3.1 million.

According to a spokesperson of East China International Intermodal Port, the train is expected to arrive in Venlo in 22 days and will return to Jinhua with newsprint, electronic instruments, medical equipment, and other goods from the Netherlands. Through the CRE railway, a major international logistics artery, Jinhua’s export products are exchanged for products and raw material urgently needed in China, which helps further consolidate the industrial chain supply chain and the dual circulation strategic hub landmark project.
