As of the end of July 2022, the rankings for the top ten cities in China’s export trade economy were released: Shenzhen (1,086.41 bn RMB), Shanghai (913.01 bn RMB), Suzhou (895.85 bn RMB), Dongguan (542.66 bn RMB), Ningbo (488.64 bn RMB), Jinhua (342.30 bn RMB), Foshan (338.27 bn RMB), Chongqing (324.48 bn RMB), Guangzhou (322.27 bn RMB), and Hangzhou (311.87 bn RMB).

From January to July 2022, Jinhua’s export trade volume ranked sixth among Chinese cities. According to the latest data released by Jinhua Customs, in the first seven months of 2022 Jinhua achieved a total foreign trade import and export value of 385.23 bn RMB, a year-on-year increase of 24.6%. Jinhua’s exports totaled 342.29 bn RMB while imports accounted for 42.94 bn RMB.

It is evident that Jinhua’s trade strength depends primarily on exports, and the key to Jinhua’s exports lies in Yiwu, a county-level city under its jurisdiction. According to data from Yiwu Customs, in the first seven months of 2022 the total import and export value of Yiwu reached 268.17 bn RMB, a year-on-year increase of 33.8%. Exports in Yiwu’s registered at 244.44 bn RMB and imports were 23.73 bn RMB. (Translated by Marco Lovisetto, edited by Daniel Haws)
