ICONIQ Holding Limited (NWTN) has successfully expanded its global layout with the UAE and China as its dual-driven core. Nearly a dozen minister-level dignitaries and members of the royal family were present to witness the establishment of this strategic partnership between smart electric vehicle company NWTN and the electric vehicle assembly base in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). It is an unprecedented event for the automotive industry in the UAE and it is of great significance to the regional economic development and industrial structure. It further proves the UAE’s determination to develop new energy vehicles and build a regional industrial hub.

Founded in 2016, NWTN is a green mobility technology company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. The company attracts worldwide attention as it has been awarded for defining the “Smart Passenger Vehicle (SPV)” that highlights artificial intelligence technology and personalized passenger experience. The NWTN factory in the KIZAD is the first electric vehicle assembly base in Abu Dhabi, therefore, the government attached great importance to this signing ceremony.

As the main promoter of the diverse economic forms of the UAE, the guests present included both the young and the backbone leaders of the UAE government. They support sustainable technologies for the UAE in the international ceremony and hope to promote the energy revolution and cultivate new growth drivers. Government leaders and the core decision-making circle of the UAE royal family attached great importance to the development prospects of new energy vehicles, and they also regarded the landing of the NWTN production base as an opportunity to upgrade the local manufacturing industry chain and promote international industrial cooperation. They hope to consolidate their leadership of the sustainable technology development in the Middle East and worldwide.

As one of the first Arab countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative, the UAE is looking for opportunities to cooperate with China’s industrial chain in the fields of new energy vehicles and sustainable technologies. NWTN’s super factory in Jinyi New District of Jinhua is about to start construction soon. It has a designed production capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year. Based both in China and the United Arab Emirates, NWTN’s international production layout will achieve better business operations in the core markets of China, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Abu Dhabi Ports Group is currently developing the ecological layout of the new energy vehicle industry, and several tailor-made projects have been or are about to be implemented. With the landing of the NWTN electric vehicle production base and the introduction of resources from the global supply chain with the Belt and Road initiative, the UAE’s new energy vehicle industry chain will usher in opportunities for leapfrog development. They will accelerate the sustainable and intelligent upgrade of regional manufacturing.

When expanding the market in the future, NWTN will benefit from sustainable technology, energy transition, and distinctive geographical advantages of the UAE. The UAE government is also willing to provide comprehensive support for NWTN’s overseas expansion and promote electric vehicles “Made in the UAE” to North Africa and other overseas regions. This will not only help to strengthen the UAE’s position as a manufacturing, trade, and logistics hub in the region but will also further enhance its national image around the world that focuses on sustainable and smart technology.
