|Pujiang Enhances Industry to Boost Development|
The Ninth Photovoltaic Polymers International Conference (PPIC) will be held in Pujiang from September 15 to 17. Pujiang has been vigorously developing photovoltaic (PV) materials and equipment in recent years, attracting the attention of many domestic and foreign PV enterprises.
From January to June 2022, Pujiang achieved a total foreign trade import and export value of 4.8 bn RMB, an increase of 29.3% year-on-year, ranking second in the municipiality of Jinhua in terms of growth rate. According to Jinhua Customs, the growth rate of Pujiang’s imports and exports value and imports rate in the first half of the year exceeded the average of Jinhua. This shows that the strategy of enhancing industry in the county has begun to demonstrate its benefits by the achievement of growth despite the impact of the pandemic.
The main export commodities of Pujiang are clothing, electromechanical, glass products, and textile products. The main import commodities are plastic particles of primary shape, basic organic chemicals, and agricultural and electromechanical products. In the first half of 2022, Pujiang exported 1.2 bn RMB of clothing, a year-on-year increase of 19.2%; 0.8 bn RMB of electromechanical products, a year-on-year increase of 27.6%; 0.7 bn RMB of glass products, a year-on-year increase of 75.8%; and 270m RMB of textile products, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. The four categories accounted for 64.7% of the total export value of the county.
Meanwhile, the county imported 110m RMB of primary-shaped plastics, 52.8m RMB of basic organic chemicals, 14.9m RMB of agricultural products, and 5.8m RMB of electromechanical products. In sum, these four categories accounted for 99.2% of the total import value of the county.
Cao Liji, head of the General Affairs section of Jinhua Customs, said that there has been a large import and export trade deficit in Jinhua and an imbalance in development between the two ends. During this critical period of adjustment in global economy, a rapid increase in import data can motivate enterprises in Jinhua to use global resources to achieve more optimal resource allocation, promote the further optimization of foreign trade structure, and achieve a steady rise in the volume and quality of foreign trade in Jinhua.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Pujiang has adhered to the strategy of enhancing industries. It has also strengthened its attractiveness to large and strong enterprises, took PV as the main field of industry introduction, and improved the working mechanism to plan land use in advance and accelerate the kick-off of projects. Since the beginning of this year, over 1 bn RMB of manufacturing projects have been signed in Pujiang, of which three have landed and two are currently under construction. With the completion of this batch of key projects, Pujiang will further consolidate its manufacturing foundation and inject strong impetus for high-quality development.
