The Yiwu Airport is a major county-level civil aviation airport in East China and the busiest airport in central and western Zhejiang. With a throughput of over two million passengers in 2019, it has officially entered the ranks of medium-sized airports. Since its opening in 2014, the Yiwu Airport has successively launched international flights to and from Hong Kong, Taipei, South Korea, and Thailand.

On January 9, the first group of tourists arrived in Thailand after China's adjustment to its epidemic prevention policy. The MF833 flight carrying 269 passengers from Xiamen landed at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok at 13:17 on the same day. On the occasion, Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Saksayam Chidchob, the Minister of Transport, and Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, were at the airport to welcome the 'return' of Chinese travelers to Thailand.

"I saw on the news that the Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand would be there to welcome us, and I truly felt Thailand's enthusiasm for Chinese tourists. Such a welcome was very surprising," one of the passengers exclaimed.

A natural question is: with the continuous optimization of the epidemic prevention policy, when will the direct flights from Yiwu to Thailand and other places resume?

A spokesperson of the Yiwu Airport explained that with the approach of the busiest flying season next March, the airport has plans to gradually resume routes to Southeast Asia. The destinations will include Bangkok in Thailand, Nha Trang in Vietnam, and Sihanoukville in Cambodia. Detailed information about the resumed flights will be announced soon.
