With the May Day holiday approaching, the hall of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Yiwu’s Public Security Bureau recorded a small peak in visitors. The office hall received an average of 500 visits every day.

On the morning of April 24, many citizens lined up to apply for exit visas. A citizen named Ms. Wang came with her children to apply for a visa. She wanted to take advantage of the May Day holiday to visit Hong Kong and Macao. “I want to take my children out to travel during the May Day holiday, and now it is much more convenient to apply for a visa than before,” said Ms. Wang.

“At the beginning of the year, the main visitors who applied for permits were outbound business personnel. Since March and April, especially during the days approaching the May Day holiday, more people start traveling and sightseeing,” said Xia Weicheng, the deputy director of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Yiwu Municipal Public Security Bureau. He mentioned that the number of daily window acceptances has reached nearly 500 applicants, and there were days when it exceeded 500.

Xia reiterated that it is currently the peak period for applying for an exit visa. Citizens should stagger the busiest afternoon hours to avoid long queues. To apply for a visa, citizens only need to bring their identity cards. If a child in the family needs a visa, the parents should bring the family registration book to apply for it.
