At 10:18 a.m. on August 20, after more than 100 days of unremitting effort, the Suxi No. 1 Tunnel, a part of the Suxi Container Management Station Project of the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway, broke through, ten days ahead of the planned construction schedule. The successful breakthrough of the Suxi No. 1 Tunnel marks a new stage for the project construction. The Suxi Container Management Station Project of the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway is a supporting project for the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Corridor and a major project in 2023 under Zhejiang’s umbrella project – Thousands of Projects with One Trillion RMB Investment – to expand effective investment. It also contains the core of the construction of the Sixth Port Area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. In December 2021, the project was included in the work plan of the State Council to promote the development of multimodal transport in order to adjust and optimize the transport structure during the 14th Five-Year Plan. On November 9, 2022, the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved the Suxi Container Management Station Project of the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway, and the project officially began on November 24 of the same year. Upon completion, the project will connect Ningbo-Zhoushan Port with Yiwu via the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway using double-decker container transportation. By integrating the services of shipping, customs, management, and information, the project will extend the port’s supporting services to Yiwu, further improve the Yiwu-Ningbo land freight channel, and enhance the efficiency of land freight.
