“In the subalpine marsh wetland of Dawutou, Nanshan Nature Reserve, at an altitude of about 1260 meters, a community of wild watershield (Brasenia schreberi), a wild plant under national protection (Category II) was found, with a distribution area of about 1000 square meters,” said the scientific flora research team of Nanjing Forestry University, who have been carrying out the project “Comprehensive Scientific Investigation of Wucheng Nanshan Nature Reserve” in the Nanshan Provincial Nature Reserve in Wucheng District. They discovered this Category II national protected wild plant during their field investigation and image recording in the Nanshan Nature Reserve. The watershield in Nanshan Nature Reserve has a wide distribution area, and its population, community, and living environment have important scientific research and socio-economic value. The scientific research team suggests accelerating the construction of nature reserves, promoting the construction of small population protection zones, establishing core protection areas for species’ genetic resources, and continuously paying attention to rare and endangered species.
