On August 29, construction workers were busy operating machinery at the elevated station project site of the Yiwu Railway Station. Because it is the gateway of Yiwu city, increasing passengers have led to an insufficient waiting capacity for existing stations. This has caused rough entrance and exit routes since the opening of the high-speed rail passenger service in the Yiwu Railway Station, and it can no longer meet the travel needs of passengers. In November 2022, the reconstruction and expansion project of the Yiwu Railway Station began. It includes the demolition of existing station buildings, the construction of new elevated station buildings, and the construction of related supporting projects. The planned construction area of the elevated station building is 75,000 square meters. Based on the existing Shanghai-Kunming Railway and Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway, the elevated station building is now connected to Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-speed Railway, the Jinhua-Ningbo Railway, and lines 3 and 4 of the Jinyi Passenger Dedicated Line. So far, the project 30% completed and is expected to be fully operational in 2026. (By Hu Xiaofei—Jinhua Daily, translated by Huang Dan, edited by Daniel Haws) |
