Zhejiang’s Exports Grow Rapidly
The countries and regions along the Belt and Road (B&R) have played an increasingly important role in Zhejiang’s import and export trade. According to Hangzhou Customs, Zhejiang’s exports to countries and regions along the B&R totaled 295.31 billion RMB, and the value of imports from the same amounted to 96.47 bn RMB from January to May this year, a year-over-year increase of 10.5% and 14.6%, respectively.
In the Yiwu Small Commodities Market, businessman Nika from Almaty, Kazakhstan said that he had just placed an order for a quantity of lamps to be transported to Kazakhstan through the China Railway Express (CRE). In his early days in Yiwu five years ago, there were not many Kazakh businessmen in Yiwu, but now increasing numbers of Kazakhs have been attracted here by the CRE.
From seasonal agricultural products to industrial manufactured goods, more and more Zhejiang goods are being exported to countries along the B&R. From January to May, the value of Zhejiang’s exports of agricultural products to the countries and regions along the B&R amounted to 3.62 bn RMB, a year-over-year increase of 23.7%; Huzhou’s exports of agricultural products alone totaled 1 bn RMB, a year-over-year increase of 31.9%.
