Yiwu-Liège CRE Launches

Post Time: 2019-10-15

On the morning of October 10, the Yiwu-Liège China Railway Express (CRE) eWTP-Cainiao departed from the Yiwu West Railway Station with 82 TEUs, marking the successful launch of the first CRE line for cross-border e-commerce in the Yangtze River Delta region. It was the result of the strategic cooperation between Yiwu Municipal People's Government and Alibaba Group on the eWTP (Electronic World Trade Platform). This achievement accelerates the market-oriented, sustainable, and high-quality development of the CRE.

The Yiwu-Liège CRE eWTP-Cainiao is scheduled to run two trips a week, launching from Yiwu and traveling through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, and Germany before arriving at Liège, Belgium.

In June 2019, Yiwu Municipal People's Government and Alibaba Group signed an eWTP strategic cooperation agreement, and the eWTP Global Innovation Center settled in Yiwu. Belgium started cooperation with Alibaba Group on the eWTP project in December 2018, including constructing a cross-border e-commerce airport logistics hub at Liège Airport and promoting cross-border e-commerce trade facilitation.
