CRE Carrying Only Toys
At 11:30 on July 20, the X8020 CRE train, loaded with 94 TEUs of toys of various brands, departed from Yiwu West Station. It will arrive in Prague, Czech Republic, after a 15-day journey over 11,411 kilometers. This is the first CRE train carrying only toys to satisfy the needs of the market.
China is currently the largest trading partner of the Czech Republic outside the EU, and the Czech Republic is China’s second-largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2019, the bilateral trade volume between these two countries reached $17.6 billion USD, a year-over-year increase of 7.9%. However, in the first quarter of 2020, their bilateral trade volume was only $3.62 billion USD due to COVID-19, a year-on-year decrease of 7.3%.
To reduce the impact of the pandemic on the China-Europe industrial supply chain, the Yiwu railway department has given full play to the CRE trains, which transport as many goods as possible while sea and air transport are affected by the pandemic. This is the primary reason for the CRE’s growth trend in spite of the global situation.
As of July 20, the CRE has run 314 trains this year and carried 29,408 TEUs abroad, a year-over-year increase of 183.59%. It has become an efficient international logistics channel for exporting commodities, pandemic prevention materials, and daily necessities to European countries.
