200t Canadian Pork Directly to Yiwu Port
Post Time: 13/09/2018

At 10 o’clock on September 5, several refrigerator trucks loaded with nearly 200 tons of frozen pork imported from Canada entered the designated port in Yiwu.
The middle part of Zhejiang has many meat processing plants, with a huge demand of imported meat. With high quality and reasonable prices, Canadian pork is very popular among these plants. However, before the designated port for imported meat in Yiwu was approved, the plants had to purchase the imported meat from the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo through agencies, which charged high prices. Thanks to the opening of the imported meat port in Yiwu, now the cost of time, transportation, and storage for imported meat is greatly reduced, and it has faster customs clearance.

The designated port for imported meat was approved officially in January of 2018. It is the third designated meat import port in Zhejiang Province, after Wenzhou and Zhoushan Ports. To better serve the imported meat business, the Development Bureau of Yiwu, Lugang District, set up a promotion team—in cooperation with the Yiwu Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Lugang Group, and Yiwu Customs—to investigate the logistics of the meat market. They have gone to Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Wuhan, Nanchang, and other important cities for an on-the-spot investigation of local meat markets. In addition, they have approached 28 meat companies in Jinhua, Ningbo, and Shanghai in hopes of introducing large meat companies from home and abroad to Yiwu.
