International Live Broadcasting in Yiwu

Post Time: 2020-01-14

Zheng Youzong, a Chinese American in Yiwu, is very optimistic about international businessmen in Yiwu selling goods through live broadcasting. He says that in recent years, Yiwu has been committed to being a “global buyer and global seller” and vigorously developing import trade. The city has witnessed international businessmen endorsing imported products and then selling them through popular platforms of live broadcasting.

Su Dongyang, a live broadcast businessman, also has confidence in such sales methods. Some platforms require broadcasters to register before posting live broadcasts, and international businessmen will not be able to because their names are not available in China's identity database. Thus, they must collaborate with Chinese businessmen who participate in the live broadcast by acting as assistants and performance guests. He believes, however, that with increasing numbers of international businessmen engaging in this business, relevant laws and regulations will soon arise.

Tong Yuanzhi, founder of an e-commerce community in Yiwu, says he knows there are only a few dozen international businessmen in Yiwu selling goods through live broadcasting.

By the end of 2019, the number of foreign-invested companies in Yiwu exceeded 8,000, and the number of international investors living in Yiwu exceeded 15,000. (By Qian Xusheng, translated by Jin Haiqiong, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
