Yiwu Allows Online Work Permit Renewal

Post Time: 2020-02-12
On February 3, Eswehli Abdunnaser Bashir, a Libyan businessman from Yiwu Gusai Trading Co., Ltd., renewed his foreigner work permit after submitting his application online. Bashir was the first foreign businessman in Yiwu to submit his online renewal application for a work permit during the coronavirus outbreak.

In order to strengthen epidemic prevention and reduce the gathering of people, since February 3, Yiwu has launched an online service for internationals who need to renew their work permits in China. Those who had already been allowed to submit applications online before the outbreak will continue to be allowed, and those who were not allowed before are able to submit online during the outbreak, without the need to hand in paper materials to the window in person. With this special allowance, all internationals in Yiwu have access to renew their work permits while staying at home.

The window for foreigners’ work permit services has been closed temporarily. After the coronavirus outbreak is contained, there will be an announcement regarding when the window will reopen. (By Wang Ting, translated by Li Ziyi, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
