Constructing a Transit Metropolis
Post Time: 09/08/2018

On August 6, the research and steering committee for cities listed as “Transit Metropolis” candidates by the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China came to Jinhua to supervise the progress of Jinhua’s construction of a Transit Metropolis. This year in Zhejiang, Jinhua and Huzhou are both striving to construct Transit Metropolises. To date, Jinhua has completed 15 of the 19 total Transit Metropolis construction tasks set for 2018.

Transit Metropolises advocate high-quality public transportation services that guide urban growth and focus on the coordination and coexistence of urban public transit and urban human settlements, environments, structural functions, and spatial layouts. Jinhua has issued a “Three-Year Plan for the Construction of the National Transit Metropolis”: from 2018-2020, Jinhua will construct a Transit Metropolis, focusing on the four aspects—“convenience, green, intelligence, and beauty”—, and 34 indicators—including contribution rates, line layouts, and passenger satisfaction—of urban public transit.

According to the latest third-party assessment report, the punctuality rate of Jinhua’s urban public transit during the morning and evening rush hours is 92.6%, and passenger satisfaction sits at 85%. According to the construction plan, by 2020, the proportion of public transit in all of Jinhua’s modes of transportation will increase by 20%, and the contribution rate of public transit will increase by nearly 28%; passenger satisfaction for urban public transit will run higher than 85%; and the proportion of clean energy buses will increase from 53.3% to 60%.
