National Award Candidates from Jinhua

On November 26, People’s Daily published the names and biographies of 100 award candidates for their contributions to China’s reform and opening up. Shi Guangnan, Xie Gaohua, and Pan Jianwei, three candidates from Jinhua, are on the list.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, and the national Party authorities are selecting a group of people to be awarded for their contributions. Based on local recommendations and after several rounds of review, 100 award candidates were chosen.

Shi Guangnan, born in Jinhua, is a famous musician and composer, former vice chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, and former vice chairman of the Chinese Musicians’ Association. Xie Gaohua is the former secretary of the Yiwu Municipal Party Committee. Pan Jianwei, born in Dongyang, is the executive vice president of the University of Science and Technology of China, vice chairman of the Central Committee of Jiusan Society (a democratic party in China), and vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, as well as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
