Jinhua: National Transportation Hub
Post Time: 09/01/2019

On January 5, the Jinhua Government announced that the Jinhua Railway Planning Scheme was approved by the Development and Reform Department of the China Railway Corporation, which is a milestone for Jinhua Railway.

In the “Notice on Printing and Distributing the 13th Five-Year Plan for the Modern Comprehensive Transportation System” issued by the State Council in 2017, the Jinhua-Yiwu Comprehensive Transportation Hub was positioned as one of 63 chosen nationally. In 2018, in “The Notice on Printing and Distributing the Zhejiang Construction Plan,” the Jinhua-Yiwu hub has been identified as one of the four comprehensive transportation hubs in Zhejiang Province. Since then, the Jinhua Development and Reform Commission has been working on the Jinhua Railway Planning Scheme. After much research and investigation, they have worked out more than ten schemes.

On November 8 of 2018, the plan was approved by the Shanghai Railway Bureau and the Development and Reform Commission of Zhejiang Province. On November 20, the opinions given by the tripartite meeting were reported to the China Railway Corporation. On November 28, the Development and Reform Department of China Railway received the report and held internal discussion. On December 28, the “Report on the First Review of the Jinhua Railway Planning Scheme” was officially approved by the China Railway Corporation.

Building the Jinhua-Yiwu metropolitan area as a national transportation hub is of great significance in the development of mid-Zhejiang. As the next step, based on instructions given by the China Railway Corporation, the Jinhua Development and Reform Commission will continue its preliminary work to support the Jinhua-Yiwu Urban Area.

The Zhejiang Government strategically highlights the construction of metropolitan areas. After several rounds of discussion, Zhejiang Province agreed that the core area of the Jinhua-Yiwu Metropolitan Area will cover not only Yiwu and the downtown of Jinhua, but also Dongyang, Lanxi, and Yongkang.
