Jinhua, Transportation Hub
Post Time: 10/03/2019

The construction of comprehensive transportation will be the main task of the metropolitan areas of Zhejiang, as announced at a press conference held by the Zhejiang Government on February 21. Chen Xiao, member of the Jinhua Municipal Standing Committee and executive deputy mayor, said: “To build a nationwide comprehensive transportation hub, Jinhua plans to build a Jinyi comprehensive transportation hub, which will integrate aviation, high-speed railways, light rails, and expressways.”

On February 22, when delivering the government work report on the fourth session of the 7th Jinhua Municipal People’s Congress, Yin Xuequn, mayor and deputy secretary of the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee, mentioned that Jinhua should be committed to the construction of a national comprehensive transportation hub, which shows the government’s resolution, confidence, and goals in developing the city’s transportation.

Since the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, Jinhua has set the goal of building a national comprehensive transportation hub. As an important city in the Yangtze River Delta, Jinhua has obvious advantages of location and resources. In 2018, Jinhua had a total cumulative investment of 25.17 billion RMB in comprehensive transportation construction. To be a national comprehensive transportation hub, Jinhua needs more hubs and stations, upgraded road networks, and better logistics.

Regarding hubs and stations, Jinhua will coordinate various modes of transportation while focusing on airports and railways. According to the plan, Jinhua will establish a comprehensive transportation hub connecting railways, highways, light rails, buses, taxis, vehicles, and other means of transport to alleviate traffic pressure and boost economic and tourism development. In addition, the government is working on site selection for an international airport to support the development of Jinyi Metropolitan Area.

In terms of the road networks, the railways, highways, and waterways will go hand in hand. At present, in addition to the Jinhua-Yiwu-Dongyang Light Railway that is under construction, other railways such as Jinhua to Lanxi, Wuyi, Yongkang, and Dongyang and Dongyang to Yongkang are being planned. As to the construction of high-quality highways, four highways—Yongtaijinqu, Wusonglong, Wenyihe, and Jinqianhuang—have been planned.

As for better logistics, Jinhua strives to be a center of international trade and national logistics with a service system combining hubs, channels, and networks within three to five years. (By Li Qiaohong, translated by Li Ziyi, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
