Small Padlocks Enter Big Market
On June 11 in the manufacturing workshop of Plum-Blossom Lock Industry Group in Pujiang, workers are testing smart chips in the padlocks. One of the company’s greatest accomplishments, the smallest TSA fingerprint padlock in the world, successfully entered the international market and gained popularity from European and American customers. More than 130,000 have been sold this year.
In the past 20 years, Plum-Blossom Lock Industry Group has been dedicated to its lock production and invested tens of millions of RMB to develop intelligent locks. The smart lock product series, such as the TSA fingerprint padlock using sensor recognition technology, go out of stock almost immediately after being put on the market.
Pujiang promoted the upgrade of the padlock industry, speeding up the use of machines and intelligence in the lock industry. In the past, it took seven or eight seconds to make a key hole. Now, after using the fully automated drilling process, it can be completed within only three seconds, with one worker operating 20 machines at the same time. In the past, only 800 locks were produced manually every day, but now one machine can produce 3,000 locks a day. (By Zheng Yufeng, translated by Lin Yuqin, edited by Mariam Ayad)
