Precision Treatment and “Healthy China”
On July 5, the 26th Zhejiang Academic Conference on Cancer Prevention and Cure and the 3rd Zhejiang Summit Forum on Cancer Technology Innovation and Precision Treatment, held by the Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, opened in Jinhua. Wang Hongyang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, oncologist, and professor and doctoral mentor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was interviewed by a reporter from the Jinbao Media Center during a conference at the forum. She hopes to collaborate with Jinhua in the future to jointly contribute to a “Healthy China.”
Having long been engaged in the basic and clinical research of tumor signal transduction, Wang has made extraordinary achievements in oncology research. Focusing on the occurrence, development, recurrence, and metastasis of cancer, in addition to medical transformation, she introduced her research in layman’s terms for ease of understanding.
Themed “Cancer Technology Innovation and Precision Treatment,” Wang delivered a lecture on precision medicine in cancer treatment (using the genetic changes in a patient’s tumor to determine future treatment). She holds that medical professionals are striving towards using precision medicine in the treatment of tumors, hoping to implement individualized treatment. So far, precision medicine treatments have yet to be realized. (By Jia Zhenwei – Jinhua Daily, translated by Zhang Jiajia, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
