Turkish Merchant in Yiwu Promotes Ice Cream at CIIE
On the evening of November 19 at the Sultan Restaurant on Chouzhou North Road, Ozcan Sezer, a Turkish merchant in Yiwu, was introducing Mado ice cream to his customers. He said with excitement that thanks to the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE), his ice cream has become much more popular.
From November 5-10, the 2nd CIIE was held in Shanghai. A total of 181 countries, regions, and international organizations attended the expo, and more than 3800 enterprises participated in the expo.
World-renowned as the “Small Commodity City,” Yiwu is a pivotal city along the Belt and Road. With more than 15,000 international businessmen living here, Yiwu is an important window for cultural exchanges. At this CIIE, the Yiwu Trading Group organized more than 500 international businessmen from 78 countries and regions to attend the expo. In addition, some international businessmen in Yiwu set up booths to promote the products from their countries. Ozcan was one of them.
On the morning of November 6, the booth of Mado ice cream at the Turkish Pavilion was crowded with people, and they were lining up to taste the ice cream. Ozcan was busy receiving purchasers from all over the world. During any down time, he would hand out ice cream to visitors and chat with them.
With a history of more than 100 years, Mado is a well-known ice-cream brand in Turkey. In 2017, Ozcan, who had a catering business in Yiwu at the time, saw that there was a niche market for Mado ice cream and introduced Mado to Yiwu. Relying on the huge market of Yiwu, Ozcan devoted himself to promoting the brand and popularity of Mado. In order to meet the needs of different groups of people, more than ten kinds of flavors of Mado ice cream have been introduced by Ozcan.
