Wuyi Enterprises Seek Business Opportunities
“In this pandemic, we adjusted our sales strategy in a timely manner, increased cooperation with overseas e-commerce companies, and also adjusted key customers. The amount of orders we received now has been increased a great deal. In the first quarter, the amount of orders fell by 15% year-on-year, yet that of April doubled,” said Ying Er, CEO of Zhejiang Apollo Motorcycle Manufacturing Co. Ltd. on May 11.
The company produces off-road motorcycles, ATVs, electric bicycles and other products and exports to 69 countries such as the U.S. and France, with an export proportion of nearly 100%. Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, some international orders have been postponed or cancelled. During the gap when the situation got better at home and the virus had not been spreading worldwide, the company rushed to employ more than 150 workers to resume their work affected by the crisis, yet the sudden worsening situation in the international community put the company in dilemma again.
“But we got much help in March.” According to Ying Er, government leaders and economic experts were also very much concerned about the situation. They carried out some new policies and plans, and even introduced a public servant to assist with work in the company, to help the company get through difficulties.
The company thus got some time to arrange new sales plans. In early April, the company’s orders began to pick up. Currently, the orders that the company has received have been scheduled to the end of July, and the total number of pre-sales reached 15,000 units. In order to meet their production needs, the company has launched more than 100 new recruitment positions.
Dingkang Technology Co., Ltd. also found business opportunities in overseas markets. The company’s main business is fitness products, like smart treadmills. During the pandemic, the company exerted effort on e-commerce platforms such as Taobao.com and Tmall.com, and launched sales activities such as online live streaming with cyberstars. Their orders have been scheduled to the end of June, and their production lines have been fully loaded. (By Li Zengwei, translated by Lin Yuqin, edited by Mariam Ayad)
