International Congress on Sports and History

    On September 21-22, the 2019 International Congress on Sports and History was held at Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU), involving about 200 domestic and international professors and experts. The topics focused on the development of the Olympic games and how they have impacted physical education.

    At the opening ceremony hosted by Xu Lan, dean of the Institute of Physical Education, vice principal of ZNU Zhong Yijun gave a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. He announced that ZNU will focus on improving the development of physical education so as to achieve great progress in education reform, scientific research, competitiveness, and mass sports.

    On behalf of the State University of Surabaya (Indonesia), Prof. Toho Cholik Mutohir promised that the Asia-Pacific Sports Association will encourage scholars to enhance communication on physical education in the Asia-Pacific region. A new era of development in Asia-Pacific sports can be expected. Also, the association will promote scientific research to provide more and better academic exchange opportunities.

    Focusing on the development of the Olympics and its effects, the meeting topics centered around the history of the Olympics around the world: its core ideas in Asia, the relationship between the Olympics and politics, nationalism, economics, education, and culture; a critical look at past years of Olympics and sports; and the challenges that the Olympics will face in the future.
